Jack of All Trades

Jack of All Trades is an 8-week summer enrichment program specifically designed for talented, male high school students. The program engages 60, rising 9th-12th graders in daily programming that will enhance their knowledge of and participation in the areas of STEM, creative arts, foreign language, African American literature, professional development, service learning, and career preparedness. A major component of this program include internship placements for 11th and 12th grade students with local non-profit organizations, small businesses, and major corporations. Jack of All Trades also partners with the local university to ensure fidelity and appropriateness when implementing various aspects of the curriculum. These partnerships are key to the program’s success as they not only provide students with exposure to specialized professionals, but also an opportunity to gain hands on, real-world experience working with some of the top companies in the city.

A key strategy within Jack of All Trades is maintaining the same cohort of students each summer, with the exception of the rising 9th grade class. This program is aimed at producing more competitive students who are better positioned to achieve at high academic and professional levels. These young men will also complete the program with a comprehensive understanding of how to play a lead role in improving health and economic outcomes within their communities. Jack of All Trades instills the needed confidence of transformational leaders, while equipping students with the tools, techniques, and resources that are more in line with filling the needs of a growing and evolving economy.
