The Queens of the Castle is a select group of women leaders and local organizations whose membership is comprised of all, or mostly, women. This group of esteemed leaders represents women who are mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces, and sisters and have a desire, and the capacity, to serve as key advocates for Growing Kings and our work to improve life outcomes for underserved male youth in Birmingham.

The Queens are the key ingredient in the success of our Royal Suppers. The Royal Suppers are a major component of our Measures of a Man program and are designed to surround program participants and their parents with both seasoned and new mothers, in an effort to share best parenting practices, while enjoying a finely prepared dinner with the entire family. Additionally, the Queens of the Castle host the monthly Salon Talk Saturdays that aim to create more open discussions around issues plaguing Black and Brown male youth.

The Queens of the Castle are vital to the success of Growing Kings as they agree to commit their time, talents, and resources in an effort to provide our organization’s leadership with the wisdom and tools needed to better serve our parents. With the help of this group, we are better positioned to be industry innovators and thought leaders in male youth development.
